2 Adams

2 AdamsIn this light-hearted comedy, the Garden of Eden is inhabited by not one Adam, but two!  As Adam #1 and Eve get booted out of the Garden, the other Adam stays behind to play lawn bowls with the Serpent. The hilarity continues as the Serpent tries to seduce Adam #2 in an attempt to get him banished as well. The talented cast including Adam Emperor, Talmadge Ragan, Tony Kee and Isaac Wade have a blast while reinventing this Biblical story.

Cult Classics

Cult ClassicsThese stories really are classics! They cover much ground in an effort to show the length and breath of cults in America. From the desert commune to the Shaker community of the 1830’s, each story captures the fanatic ideologues that use mind-control techniques to keep their supplicants humble. The Tsunami Radio Theater used a small cast to immortalize the cult leaders and the people who fall under their spell.

F. Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott FitzgeraldThis moving drama follows the career of one of America’s most beloved authors, F. Scott Fitzgerald. From his wild college years to his courtship and marriage to his flamboyant wife, Zelda, the cast brings to life his struggles during the years of the Roaring Twenties and the Depression years of the 1930s. His drinking, his loyalty to his wife who slips into insanity and his mercurial rise to fame with such stories as The Great Gatsby and Bernice Bobs Her Hair, are all explored. He and Zelda were thought of as the “It” couple of the 1920s, and many of his stories are based on their exploits. The great cast, headed by Dave Huber as F. Scott Fitzgerald, follows all the nuances of this brilliant writer whose life spun out of control. A true American classic!

Patience gives up her crown, but decides to devote herself to the study of paleontology.

Moving Pictures

Moving PicturesThis is a marvelous set of short stories. The subject of this collection is the interaction of movies and real life. As with our other short story collections, the Tsunami Radio Theater utilizes a relatively small cast (6 actors) to take on dozens of roles, from Hollywood celebrities to common folk. Each of the pieces is a comic gem that could stand on its’ own. For example, “Screenwriter” is the tale of a screenwriter who returns to her New England hometown after scoring an Oscar for best original screenplay. The only problem is she used the people in the village as the models for her story. In a twist similar to a Twilight Zone episode, the young writer finds that the movie theater is showing a film that seems to be a bio-pic of her life, all the embarrassing parts on display. This is essential listening for anyone who loves the movies!

Painted Desert

Painted DesertThe protagonist of this story is sixty-five-year-old Lorraine Prior, who has retired to Sedona, Arizona, to paint the stunning landscapes and relax. Her adult children have other plans. They quickly move in, placing both emotional and financial burdens on their mother. The issues of child adoption and medical care for infants play a prominent role in the story. In the long run, Lorraine decides to lay down some ground rules so that the family can live together in harmony.

Roxanna Brown

Roxanna BrownIn this drama based on a real life story, Roxanna Brown is a young woman who falls in love with ancient Asian ceramics. After receiving her journalism degree from Columbia in 1966, she heads to Vietnam to pursue her passion. Using her journalism credential (she was the youngest credentialed war correspondent at the time) Roxanna divides her time between covering stories and motorcycling off to the countryside looking for ancient temples and kiln sites. After the war, she went on to school in Hong Kong while starting an art publication and flying around the world to appraised collections of Asian art. Her world came crashing down when she was kicked out of the country for her addiction of opium. This production traces Roxanna’s dramatic life story in a nonlinear, multi-faceted fashion.

Exhausted and ill from the swine flu, Ms. O’Keeffe lets the established artist take her in and nurse her back to health. With a strong cast, lead by Tony Kee, this cautionary tale is a funny romp through the world of copyright law.

Wild or Tame

Wild or TameIn this collection of 18 short stories, “Wild or Tame”, the Tsunami group explores impulses we all have to lead a quiet, domestic life, or explore our wild side. These are contemporary stories dealing with everything from the NBA finals to park rangers to Woodstock. We all follow our hearts occasionally, and the humor in these all too familiar tales, springs from the conflict between wanting to behave and the urge to go hog wild!

Oedipus Rex and Oedipus at Colonus

Oedipus Rex - Oedipus at ColonusTwo classic plays from ancient Greece are presented by our wonderful cast of actors and singers. Enter the realm of blood-feuds and mysticism from the master dramatist, Sophocles. In Oedipus Rex, we find a haughty and powerful king, who came to power in Thebes by answering the riddle of the Sphinx, faced with a plague on the city. It’s only through a voyage of self-discovery that he comes face-to-face with his own destiny. Oedipus at Colonus, finds the king now a blind beggar and outcast, looking for his final resting place. His children are forced into defending their dreadful legacy. These two powerful plays were written around 400 BC and it’s a miracle that they have survived. But I think if you listen to them, you’ll see why.
